Are you looking to work as part of a supportive, open team that strives to provide exceptional client service? We are actively recruiting a savvy Bookkeeper with a high level of diligence to join an innovative, tech-driven accounting practice in the Chippenham area as a Payroll Bookkeeper

Pillow May is an award-winning, small, independent, and friendly chartered accountancy practice based in East Tytherton. We work mainly with local small and micro businesses and private clients. Our business clients all use either Xero or FreeAgent software, depending on their strategic aims.

Our aims are:

  • to offer a Personal approach,
  • to Inspire our clients to achieve their life & business goals,
  • to Nurture our clients’ businesses so they are successful,
  • to support others through our Kinship.

The culture at Pillow May is led by our purpose, “Accountants for a Better Life,” which extends to our customers, suppliers, charitable partners, and, of course, our team.  “Better life” for our team includes:

  • no overtime,
  • flexible working policy, so typically 40% of your working time can be from home, and your working hours are set to suit you,
  • fully digital practice meaning all our clients are on cloud software using integrations such as Dext, so we can spend maximum time helping our clients understand their numbers in pretty much real time,
  • systemised practice with clear processes & templates so you’re well supported in helping our clients and working as a team,
  • beautiful rural modern office set in 50 acres of farmland, fully kitted out with air conditioning, full disabled access throughout, sit/stand desks, team training room, shower & bike-rack for cycling to work; and including a rack of pink wellies for lunchtime walks,
  • yoga lessons on Monday lunchtimes with one of our clients, customised for any team needs each week,
  • supported progression towards your personal & professional goals, whatever they may be, so there is no rigid corporate ladder to follow,
  • ownership of the company after a few years’ service – many of the current team are shareholders,
  • Regular weekly and monthly team meetings to cement and improve the company’s business, all held on Mondays, which is the only day that everyone must be in the office.

Our current team members have explained below why they enjoy working at Pillow May:

  • I actually achieve a true work/life balance due to the flexible working conditions and cloud technology,
  • I love being able to support small businesses to understand their numbers and be part of their journey,
  • There is always something new to learn and the opportunity to do new things which makes my role very interesting,
  • I feel a valued member of the team; not only as part of the internal Pillow May team, but also as an extended team member of all of our client’s teams. This has opened up a whole new community to myself that I would not normally have been privileged to be a part of.
