5 went off to Xerocon – review of Xerocon London 2018

Bigger, brighter and even more exciting, Xerocon 2018 certainly exceeded our expectations.

Along with 3000 other accountants, bookkeepers and business owners, the Pillow May team made their way into this brave new world of global technology, eager to hear what the future offers for Xero partners.

Inspirational speakers

We were inspired by some interesting speakers which included the Xerocon founders and CEO, whose message that Xero aim to ‘have a positive impact on the world by growing small businesses’, reflects Pillow May’s own mission – to help small businesses by being accountants for a better life.

Other inspirational speakers included double amputee ex-marine Ben McBean and Sir Chris Hoy, who both put across the importance of ‘pushing forwards; keeping going and how to handle setbacks’.

We were really proud that our very own Jessica Pillow was chosen to speak about the benefits of Receipt Bank, at the Receipt Bank pre-Xerocon launch party.

The all important product updates

The Xero experts demonstrated lots of product updates in line with the new MTD, ‘Making Tax Digital’ section within Xero, it was reassuring to hear that their software is already fully MTD compatible. Read our MTD FAQ here.

It was super exciting to see an array of new online banking companies who are offering a more modern, sleek and efficient service, working in real time which feeds into Xero. We know some our clients have been keen to explore other banking facilities that might better suit their business, so it was important for us to see that the feeds will be Xero compatible.

Quaderno were memorable for their amazing invoicing digital sales management tool, helping people stay tax compliant around the world. We feel excited about this new service, so much so that Pillow May are now the first UK partner of Quaderno.

The conference was fully loaded with information around automation – making accounting and business transactions more efficient.

Ultimately the need for the human connection is the view shared by Xero, the exhibitors, the accountants and all of us at Pillow May. We feel this will be a hot topic of discussion and focus for further technological advancement in 2019.

Party time!

And yes… we had a blast at the party, ‘The Pink Ladies’ danced the night away and one keen bookkeeper even went off for an early morning run in the aptly pink skies the following day!
